Joseph Mellot
Joseph Mellot have some 90 hectares of vineyards in seven AOC areas in the Central Loire. The family company is headed by Catherine Corbeau Mellot, with a highly qualified and enthusiastic young team, who are vinifying ever better wines, both at their headquarters in Sancerre and at their new cellars at Brinay, between Quincy and Reuilly.
They first achieved BRC certification in 2007 and more recently have become the first producer in the central Loire to be awarded the ISO 14001 for environmental improvements within the production and sales facility. Joseph Mellot are considered to be one of the leading lights in Sancerre and neighbouring appellations and in the 2008 vintage have gleaned a host medals for their wines at the Angers wine fair and the Concours Général Agricole de Paris.
